RIPEstat

RIPEstat is an information service for Internet-related data and analytics. It provides insights and visualisations on IP address space and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) from over 35 datasets.

You can use RIPEstat to:

  • Look up IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs).
  • Analyse routing and network health.
  • Investigate geolocation and DNS data.
  • Access historical trends for resources.
  • Have a real-time looking glass over all RIS peers.
  • Check routing security and RPKI validation.
  • Get an overview of all Internet resources in a specific country.
  • Analyse the routing history and status of an IP or ASN.
  • Locate the right contact information to report abuse.
  • Monitor network health and detect anomalies (e.g., hijacks or outages).
  • Study Internet trends, topology, or IPv6 adoption.
  • Visualise data for presentations or research.

How to Access RIPEstat

RIPEstat is available through a User Interface (UI), widgets that could be used for visualisations, and a Data API.

  • Web Interface (UI) : Visit RIPEstat and start exploring your Internet resources.
  • API Access: For developers, the RIPEstat API allows you to programmatically retrieve data and integrate it into your own tools or systems.

What Type of Information You Can Look Up

RIPEstat provides you with a comprehensive view of Internet data, enabling you to monitor and analyse the health, status, and history of Internet networks. You can look up:

  • IP Addresses: Get details about ownership, routing, and history.
  • ASNs: View details about the networks they represent and how they are routed.
  • Prefixes: Analyse specific IP ranges.
  • Geolocation: Understand where resources are used or registered.

Data Sources in RIPEstat

RIPEstat pulls data from a variety of sources, including:

  • The RIPE Database (for ownership and contact information).
  • Routing registries (e.g., RIPE IRR).
  • DNS and reverse DNS systems.
  • Historical and live BGP data (RIPE RIS).
  • Regional Internet Registries and IANA.

Getting Started with RIPEstat

Using RIPEstat is simple. To get started with the RIPEstat web version:

  • Visit https://stat.ripe.net
  • Search for Data: Enter an IP address, ASN, or another resource in the search bar. Click the "Search" button to retrieve detailed information about that resource.
  • Explore the Results: RIPEstat will present the data in various tabs, each focusing on different aspects of the resource

Data API

Are you a developer or a network operator working on network automation? You can use the Data API to consume data directly and create customised alerts, configurations, visualisations or applications for non-commercial purposes.

The Data API is also the public data interface for RIPEstat and the data source for this UI.
