RIR Governance Document Update
Date: Tuesday, 22 September
Time: 15:00 CET / UTC+2
Join our Open House to hear from NRO NC members about the latest draft RIR Governance Document.
The NRO NC started the process of updating and strengthening ICP-2: Criteria for Establishment of New Regional Internet Registries in 2024. In August this year, the NRO NC delivered its recommended draft document, the "ASO AC Recommended Draft RIR Governance Document", marking an important milestone in the work to update ICP-2. This document is the result of multiple global consultations with the RIR communities and ICANN stakeholders.
At this Open House session, NRO NC members Hervé Clément, Constanze Bürger and Andrei Robachevsky will provide an overview of the rationale for the latest draft and explain the key changes from Version 2, including updates to the Recognition and Derecognition processes, audit and compliance review provisions, emergency continuity arrangements, decision-making thresholds, ICANN’s role, and new safeguards for transparency and accountability.
We invite you to join this session to understand how the proposed governance framework aims to support the stability, accountability, and self-governance of the Internet numbers registry system.
The Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) is also known as the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) within ICANN, where it serves as the body responsible for overseeing global policy development related to Internet number resources.
